How Busy People Can Think About Health Differently

You know you want a change. You’ve been feeling it for a while. You start, you stop, you move forward, you backtrack. You start today, tomorrow feels like a promise, and then you forget. Because life happens. You’ve made notes, annotated, highlighted, underlined. You have a plan. You’re motivated. This time, you say, I’ve got this.
And then it is two weeks before you look at the plan again.
Sound familiar?
If so, you’re not alone. This is the pattern for many of us.
Most of the time it’s because there is too much noise. And no, I don’t mean the truck going by, the construction down the road, the loud music next door or that incessant dripping tap you’ve meant to fix but only think about when you are trying to focus.
The noise I am talking about is the kind we are all too familiar with: other people’s voices.
And most of those voices are not even other people. At least, not real people. It’s social media, it’s the next product, it’s the new idea and the one-thing-that-will-work. We are so inundated with health and wellness information that it is hard to hear the sparrows through the pigeons.
How can you begin to think about your own health differently? It starts with three simple questions.
Where are you know?
Where do you want to be?
What do you need to do to get there?
They sound complicated but, in reality, they are not. They’re actually easy questions.
The same questions I use to guide each session, each interaction, each conversation.
And perhaps, just for today, the only one you need to focus on is the first: where am I now? Right now. In this moment.
If you sat down with a cup of tea and asked yourself, without judgement: “where am I right now”, what would you say to yourself?
What are your habits, your challenges, your patterns? How is your energy? Do you have any concerns about your health, are there any symptoms you have perhaps been ignoring? Does the lifestyle you lead right now help with your health and wellbeing…or does it not?
When you can truly be honest with yourself, with you can clearly and specifically lay these things out for yourself, when you can look at what is happening in your own world and vitality right this moment…this, then, is the real and proper start. Not scrolling Instagram for the next plan, not starting a new thing because the voices say so.
Rather, it is starting with where you are and saying: okay. So here I am. This is what it all looks like.
When we have done that, we are ready for the next question: where do I want to be?
And this is my offer to you. Calm, focused sessions with warm and practical guidance. For a life that is already full. A place to start amidst the overwhelm. Direction, structure, analysis and, above all…
…clear next steps.
So let’s talk. Let’s be honest together about where you are right now. Where you want to be. And what you need to get you there.
